Charley Buchan – aka CS Buchan is delighted to announce his new collaborative album ‘CS Buchan & Friends’, released via Fitlike Records on May 25 and available to buy on iTunes, stream on Spotify and purchase on vinyl or CD.

Perhaps better known as one half of acclaimed act ‘Best Girl Athlete’, alongside 18 year old daughter Katie Buchan, Charley Buchan has an extensive and impressive body of work behind him along with numerous collaborations and contributions to others work as well as establishing Aberdeen-based independent music label Fitlike Records.

‘CS Buchan & Friends’ is the first post Best Girl Athlete release and the sense of freedom is almost palpable as the tracks flow effortlessly between Folk and Pop to Americana and Bar Room Blues. Leaning on a diverse range of performers from BBC Young Traditional Singer of the year finalist, Iona Fyfe to Brendon Massei, the legendary Baltimore troubadour better known as Viking Moses, to Scottish Indie lynchpin Steven Milne of The Little Kicks and international Independent Music Award (IMA) winner with Tryptamines, Chemical Callum. This is a collection of songs that weave a colourful narrative, each telling a story with an end result that is almost akin to one of those large, forced family gatherings like a funeral where everyone falls out and you find out unsavoury things that you were never meant to know about various family members.

With a burgeoning reputation as one of Scotland’s hidden song-writing gems and an album consolidating this on what is an eclectic record full of emotionally affecting, melodically-driven songs, and which offers the listener a glimpse into a fragile mind, but which leaves them tapping their toes along like a Jimmy Shand record on speed.
